One thing I’ve always wanted in my forever home is a white kitchen. You know you have a passion for the project when you create the beautiful kitchen you’ve always dreamed of, and it’s something that will bring tears to your eyes!

Home Depot is one of my favorite stores that I go to all the time. Being creative makes me happy. And doing it right makes me proud. I love that our house is ours. I love putting my print in every corner. As far as I can see, I’m not slowing down anytime soon.

Working at The Home Depot was a fun project that left lasting memories for my husband and I. We decided to paint our kitchen cabinets white and do it all for under $300! I’ll share the steps we took, the products we used (all from The Home Depot), and the mishaps we had.

We first researched how others had painted kitchen cabinets to get an idea of what we needed. Then we headed to our local Home Depot to load up on supplies.

We already had a paint sprayer and a plastic tarpaulin. After removing all the cabinet doors and drawer faces, we emptied all the cabinets, removed those horrible sticker liners from every drawer and shelf, and began organizing the supplies to get started. We set aside an area in our garage to paint, and honestly, I’m pretty impressed. We highly recommend doing this to avoid getting paint everywhere.

We had to go around the entire kitchen and scrub it with soap and water before doing anything. We want to remove any food, oil or dust that has stuck to the surfaces.

We also tried to create a better base and instead of sanding, we used liquid sandpaper and rubbed everything with it.

After all this, we were finally able to start the preparations. We used a “no sanding” primer and with a 2 hour drying time it lasted all afternoon.

Finally we applied our first coat of paint. The drying time of the paint is 4-8 hours. It took two days to do both layers because we had to turn every door and drawer surface. However, we made a big mistake that pushed us into another day! It was hard to keep the primer and paint separate because we poured both into separate paint sprayer jugs. Unfortunately, we messed them up and instead of applying a second coat of paint…we did another layer of primer on top of the first coat of paint!

It took us about 5 days in total to complete the entire project. We’re still adding things and changing things here and there. The ability to shop at Home Depot to quickly and easily get all the supplies, set up and fix everything, and finally complete the steps of liquid sanding, priming, and finally painting with the help of partners in Home Depot paint… the experience was more than outstanding. As a husband and wife team, we told each other many times what a great memory it was; We are painting the kitchen cabinets together.

There were parts of this project that we didn’t expect. So there are a few things we’ve learned that we’ll pass on to anyone doing the same type of project.

Transform your space into everything you’ve dreamed of. I never thought painting our kitchen cabinets was an option, and I certainly didn’t think it could be done for $300. It was truly incredible to have the opportunity to work with The Home Depot on this project, not only to share our experiences, but also because it gave us the confidence to tackle projects we never thought we could achieve. Now that we have a ton more home improvement projects on our list and are going to check them all off, we know all we have to do is head to Home Depot to get it done!

You can buy stock, semi-stock, or custom kitchen cabinets. Choosing which type of kitchen cabinets is best for you depends on your available kitchen space and budget.

Kitchen cabinets come in three configurations. Base cabinets support countertops, wall cabinets hang over counters or stoves, and pantry cabinets fit tight spaces. The configuration usually determines the height of the kitchen cabinets and the depth of the kitchen cabinets. Below we have listed the standard size of each type of kitchen cabinet.

Solid wood kitchen cabinets are durable, strong, attractive and often the most expensive. Wood products that are relatively cheaper such as plywood are also used to build quality cabinets. Any of these materials can be used to create kitchen cabinets with a style and type that suits your kitchen.

Opting for cabinet-grade plywood, chipboard/MDF covered with wood veneers, durable laminate or other synthetic materials will keep costs low without sacrificing style.

Whether you choose framed or frameless cabinets depends on how you want your kitchen to look. Both framed and frameless cabinets come in a variety of beautiful styles and finishes.

The fascia is the way the door sits on the front of the cabinet. Standard or traditional finishes are the most common type used in cabinet installation. Full finishes are when almost no cabinet frame is visible around the doors or drawer fronts.

Tip: All frameless cabinets use full veneer, but here’s how full veneer can be used in framed cabinets:
