Clear Roofing For Greenhouses

Clear Roofing For Greenhouses – Easy to cut, drill and install, multiwall polycarbonate sheet is primarily designed for use as greenhouse roof and wall panels. Because of its hardness, lightness, and resistance to severe impacts, it is now used for many other applications, including storm glass.

Multiwall polycarbonate sheet provides a lightweight, durable and economical solution where clear glazing or screening is required. Multi-wall polycarbonate sheets can be used as a building material for covering or roofing greenhouses, sheds, porches or sunrooms. Because multi-wall polycarbonate is very impact resistant, it is also used to protect windows from wind and harsh weather. This is the material we chose to use as the glass in our exit window well liners.

Multiwall polycarbonate is an extruded sheet whose layers are separated by vertical grooves along the length of the sheet. It insulates air bubbles and also regulates the sheet, making it light but rigid. On one side of this structured sheet, the U.V. Inhibitors are added to the polymer to protect the sheet from sunlight. This treated side of the sheet is clearly marked on the protective cover and should be installed facing the sun. Plate polymers are also designed to transmit the light spectrum that plants need for efficient photosynthesis. The plastic is transparent and allows almost 100% light transmission, but the sheet’s structured floating blocks views and provides some privacy.

Available in two versions: clear 6mm (1/4″) double wall suitable for greenhouse walls and 16mm (5/8″) triple wall good for greenhouse roofs and storm/security panels. Both are available in a variety of sheet sizes and we stock connectors and edges for both thicknesses. We can also order a wide selection of different colors, shades and thicknesses. Just let us know your requirements.

Multiwall polycarbonate is easy to cut using Critiques Saber Saw Blades (available here ). It may be necessary to blow plastic chips from cutting the groove using an air compressor. We recommend drilling a hole larger than the size of the mounting screw. We recommend using rubber washers attached to metal washers with mounting screws. Use polycarbonate sheets to create highly durable greenhouses and covered patios in areas known for extreme weather or vandalism. Our 6mm and 8mm double wall polycarbonate panels provide high impact resistance, excellent heat retention and 80% light transmission. These panels block UV rays that burn plants and living tissue, transmitting only beneficial rays. Avoid expensive shipping and box fees by ordering easy-ship 2-foot-wide double-wall polycarbonate panels delivered via standard ground service.

This double wall polycarbonate is specifically designed and engineered for commercial greenhouse use and provides 99.5% UV protection. The double wall design and light weight of the slab reduces the cost of the supporting structure as it does not require much support. Shutter-resistant polycarbonate combined with an integrated UV-resistant co-extruded layer provides long life, backed by a 10-year limited warranty against UV-induced yellowing. The cellular multi-layer structure reduces heating costs in winter and excess heat in summer. A special cover on the bottom eliminates condensation droplets.

Whether you need transparent double-walled polycarbonate sheets for a greenhouse, shed, pergola or outdoor pool, our easy-to-use deck sheets allow you to DIY with professional results. We offer lengths from 4 feet to 8 feet, allowing you to create a variety of structures as is or by cutting to desired size and shape. These are very good quality panels, but the description says 2’x4′ and they are both 1/4″ large.

Strong and easy to work with. Ships in less than a week when in stock. An “H” profile jointer was included and was still less money than ordering longer panels to reduce the size. Replaced old 4mm. The panels that came with my Harbor Freight Greenhouse.

Delivery was fast and the product was exactly what we needed. Haven’t had a chance to install the Twinwall Polycarbonate yet, but I’m sure it will stick when I get around to it.

X 30 Polycarbonate Panel Greenhouse

I used 4′ sheets to re-shingle my greenhouse roof. I didn’t expect the funny split ends that had to be cut. About half of the 10 sheets are washed on one side (no damage to fit the box). This worked well because half of the sheets had to be cut an inch from one side.

I am currently installing Twinwall Polycarbonate panels in my greenhouse and am very pleased with the panels. They are strong and very easy to cut. I’m glad I found them online.

Replaced a few of my old panels and they are much better than what came with the greenhouse. Delivery was fast and everything was reasonably priced.

Come on, a ton of light, easy to cut and work. The declared size is very accurate to within one inch. Struggling to find the right greenhouse polycarbonate sheets to use? After reading this article, you can easily choose the best polycarbonate sheets for your greenhouse.

Whether you’re building a greenhouse from scratch or replacing greenhouse panels, it can be confusing to understand the different plastic sheeting options and weigh the best to ensure your greenhouse is one for your family to enjoy. Fully functional for growing vegetables and fruits.

You may or may not know that there are two types of polycarbonate sheets that you can use for your greenhouse: solid polycarbonate and double wall polycarbonate. They have the same features, such as great clarity, but they differ in thickness, shock resistance and prices, which we will explain in detail.

Before we look at the differences between these two types of polycarbonate, let’s understand why polycarbonate sheets are chosen for greenhouses in the first place.

Polycarbonate has many advantages for use in greenhouses. It is more durable than greenhouse glass and lasts for years. Polycarbonate sheets do not break, so they do not break like glass windows. This will eliminate incidents in your greenhouse.

How A Polycarbonate Greenhouse Kit Can Improve A Grow Op

Another big advantage of using polycarbonate is how easy it is to install, especially compared to glass. Both types of polycarbonate sheets can be cut to size using a fine serrated knife. Saving weight during installation is a big advantage, making it easier to use and fix polycarbonate sheets.

Did you know that solid polycarbonate is half the weight of glass and double polycarbonate is ten times lighter?

Light transmission is how much light is transmitted through the sheet.  The transparent polycarbonate has high light transmission that provides maximum brightness. This allows your greenhouse to be a well-ventilated area, which is important because greenhouses usually need six hours of direct sunlight each day. Axiome® double wall has a high light transmission of approximately 81%, providing excellent clarity. It should also be noted that double-sided polycarbonate blocks harmful UV rays, which is a big advantage when working indoors.

Finally, polycarbonate has excellent thermal insulation properties; It naturally retains heat incredibly well, which is exactly what you need when it comes to greenhouses.

Please note that not all polycarbonate greenhouse glass is made to the same quality, some sheets are not UV protected or clear quality, so always use reputable brands such as Axiome® or Axgard®.

There are two types of polycarbonate sheets for greenhouses – Double Polycarbonate and Solid Polycarbonate. Both are great options with similar features, but ultimately, strong polycarbonate sheets are the better choice for strength and style reasons – now we’ll explain why.

Twinwall is a polycarbonate sheet consisting of two layers with a structure between them. The structure of these sheets is a light option. Hard sheet, on the other hand, is a sheet of glass-like plastic that is hard polycarbonate all the way through. This structural difference means that if appearance is a big factor for you, reinforced polycarbonate sheet glass with a “glass look” will usually look better in your garden and is considered a more traditional style.

Twinwall polycarbonate is a lightweight sheet, but it has better impact strength than glass. Its remarkable power is due to the fact that it has many layers, which means that it spreads any effect through the layers.

If you are looking for a high impact resistant layer, hard polycarbonate sheets are the best choice. They have a higher impact strength than other plastic sheets and are often described as nearly indestructible.  It is 200 times stronger than glass of the same thickness due to the polymer resin.

Twinwall polycarbonate is an affordable option for anyone on a budget. While it still has great features compared to hard sheets, it is more of a budget option. This is, first of all, that it is not hard, so less raw material is used per meter. If you choose a double wall, it is worth spending extra money on a thickness such as 10mm or thicker polycarbonate sheet.
