A beautiful laundry room has never been more important to me. For the first 10 years of my high school life, I lived in big cities and considered hauling bags full of clothes to and from the laundromat to be my weekly routine. But then my husband and I bought a house in North Carolina, where mortgages are cheap and laundry rooms are plentiful—but in an afterthought way. The laundry “room” in our house is actually a 3″ x 5″ closet hidden by a cozy little curtain, with an old washer/dryer and a sagging top shelf that can barely hold a bottle of water. Also, you sit right next to our open living/dining room, so – like anyone who visits our home,

It wasn’t long before the sad room started to drive us crazy, so we decided to give it a makeover – on the cheap. The changes are simple, but make the soft corner feel bigger than ever. Here’s how we got rid of it for about $400:
How To Create The Perfect Laundry Room For Your Home — Multi Trade Building Services
1. Summarize your approach to higher space. Obviously the washer/dryer is a polarizing topic in the world of online reviews. Front loading washers are good for mold growth, but cleaning the door and airing it out always makes a difference. Buying two front loaders allows us to stack them together, using vertical space that would otherwise be wasted. By opening up half of the closets to new possibilities, we are currently increasing our square footage.
2. Create the right feel of the room with wallpaper. Paint can clean up a wall and give it color, but wallpaper takes things to another level. Luckily for all of us, companies are releasing beautiful patterns that can easily be removed when you’re on the go. The background we chose is a gold sequin design that feels modern but not too traditional. It mimics the metal accents throughout our home, and since it’s naturally irregular, we don’t have to be precise with our installation (hallelujah!).
3. The minister is hiding problems. No one—including you—needs to see your trash cans, tumble dryers, and laundry baskets. And saying that all the bottles are beautiful is also not helpful. To keep our household items in a place that is easy to access, we installed a basic Ikea cabinet with footboards to keep it clean. The top drawer has toiletries and the like, while the bottom drawer has dog food.
For the computer desk, we cut a piece of old pine (marked for $40 at a thrift store) into quarters. We took them all apart, put two together to make a worktop, and put the other two together as a shelf. We love that you can still see the old nail holes and the character of the wood. In a place full of new things, it adds a sense of history.

4. Shelves help with storage, via. Just use the containers to do your dirty work. I put the toilet paper in a white basket; I put the paper towels in a leather bag. And then the vintage round basket offers extra storage as needed. Also on the shelves: a glass of baking soda and vinegar (my favorite natural scent combo).
5. All Space Explorers Art. Even if it’s just one thing, and even if it’s small, art makes a space bright and brings it together. To save money and time, I painted an old frame I had on hand with an illustration by artist Laura Berger. It works with the color palette and is beautiful to look at, so I think it deserves a frame.
6. A little greenery goes a long way. Since this space has no access to natural light, a small fake plant brings us outside without the need to worry.
7. Nice light always bright. One of my pet peeves is seeing a beautiful spot under a sad flushmount bob. A simple gold accessory and a glass – mine was $15 on Amazon! — beautify the space with a clean, modern look.

8. Do your angles. An overlooked corner is the perfect home for a vertical drying rack. The one we’re seeing has four bars that pop out when it’s time to dry wet clothes and then change between uses.

25 Tips to Change the Look and Feel of Your Home Eco-Friendly Homes That Make Green Better Everything You Need to Know About Wall Cladding The Best Wood Walls for Curb Appeal and Privacy If you’ve been with me long, you know I love to spruce up my laundry room spaces . Laundry areas are important in our homes and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be beautiful too. We all have laundry to do, but why not have some fun while we’re at it?
Our current laundry room is a small box of a room, with enough space for a washer and dryer and not much else, so I’m trying to think outside the box to say and decorate UP on the wall to make this space. cute and functional at the same time.
The main laundry room isn’t big, but hey, I’m so glad it’s on the top floor where our master bedroom is. It makes laundry room super easy! The beige tile floor goes with anything, but I might add some stickers to the floor to liven things up.
Have you seen these tile floors? This is from the Etsy shop Snazzi Decal. Can you order them by size and then peel them and put them right on the old tile? I like this idea and might do something like this on the laundry floors. This room is small, so it will be affordable for a small space. I still need to research them all and find the right color and design, but what a fun way to add some pizzazz to a small space. I’m not sure I want to go with this bold pattern, but something different than the regular tile I have would be nice.
Beautiful Laundry Room Makeover With The Home Depot
This beautiful background design by Caitlin Wilson is my current favorite, but it’s quite expensive. I would also look at the background and maybe opt for that feature, which I didn’t. I’m thinking of doing paneling on 2 walls and putting up colored wallpaper over that. I still need to decide what I’m going to end up with, but I think 2 walls of wallpaper above the high chair rail would look beautiful. The right wall and the end wall will be feature walls.
This is the peel and stick version from the Spoonflower Etsy shop, but I need to see the price of this one compared to the non-peel and stick one. These peels and sticks aren’t cheap either, but I know I can handle peels and sticks and I certainly wouldn’t want to mess up the expensive version. I’m still looking at colors and patterns to decide!
I also love this book by Raphael of Scalamandra. I’m sure it’s also expensive, not worth it, but I’ve seen it used around the blogosphere and it’s pretty cool. I would be afraid to mess this up too, but I love it. I think I want to keep the background white to blend it with the white trim.
The doors are painted, but the remaining space is very small, but I love color and want a colorful laundry room, so more colors will definitely be added. Here you can see how small the room is, the space is the size of a wide door with a washer and dryer in a small alcove. It’s not big at all.
Beautiful Small Laundry Room Ideas
I might just paint the wall behind the dryer to match and flow with the wallpaper. I am definitely adding some storage and cabinets above the washer/dryer. I’m still trying to figure out the setup I want to go with. There are some great examples of small laundry spaces that I will share with you below. Decisions, decisions! I want it to be beautiful and stand out, but still be functional and organized as this small space allows. If I did wallpaper on this wall, it would all be with cabinets, so it looks useless.
I definitely need a place to store my clothes and I’ll show you what I have in mind for that. My washer and dryer are basic, but that’s me
