Navy blue is a bad choice for a front door. Blue can be deep and classic or fun and fresh, but these are the most traditional navy blue colors that are popular with today’s homeowners.

And while there are about half a dozen other navy blues I can pull off the top of my head, these are some of my favorites.

Whether you’re going for a farmhouse or beachy look, there’s nothing fresher, modern teal for your front door! The oil is a mixture of blue and green – and not always an even mixture. Some oils lean more towards the blue side, while others are more green.

And, of course, the darkest tile – Benjamin Moore Yorktown Green. Not for the faint of heart, Yorktown Green is a beautiful combination that is versatile and easy to live with. It would look lovely in a wooded setting with cedar panelling.

Front Door Colors For Brown Houses

Black is bold and a great way to make a statement in a large or small home. It looks especially stunning when paired with crisp white elements.

And while black is a classic in the fashion world, it’s not a “safe” thing for the front door. Some homes look very intimidating with black doors – especially those with no natural light around them.

Black is not always suitable for homes with sandstone or stone details or front doors that are heavily shaded.

Gray and charcoal are popular with homeowners these days and with their variety they suit a wide variety of homes.

Yellow and gold can look warm and welcoming in a home. Just remember that yellow reflects much more light than other colors, so when choosing a yellow, make sure that its intensity matches your home and your personal style (in other words, “intensity” is cautious when choosing).

And while orange wouldn’t suit most homes, it was the perfect choice for his home and the palette he chose (see the full project here).

The best color for your front door is one that matches your siding, roof, stone, brick, driveway and surrounding landscape. There is no “best all-around” front door paint color.

Often the front door is darker than the rest of the house, although there are exceptions, especially when it comes to dark gray homes.

As long as it fits the house it’s in perfectly, blue is one of the best resale colors.
