You see, we just piled up the cabinets in the garage while we ditched the RV kitchen and bathroom and for some silly reason we didn’t cover it properly. After months of moving around in the garage, they were sagging and we had to paint them.
. And that doesn’t include the fact that I originally painted the kitchen cabinets gray before I decided I really liked them. Or that I tried several different varnishes on the black lower cabinets, but they either chipped too much, were too shiny, or chipped when I let them dry and had to be painted.
In short, it looked like it had no color and I didn’t want to see another color. ALWAYS.

It may sound silly, but it took me a while to figure out how to get rid of soap stains in the kitchen. If anyone else has this problem, all you need to do is push down (or sometimes up) on the little black screws on both sides while pulling the drawer.

Here is our little kitchen during the first coat of primer. It wasn’t the best paint job, but it went in the right direction. We used a primer that we got out of the garage before the trip, but I recommend buying a bond/grip primer, especially if you’re painting non-wood surfaces.
We went on a little excursion, but had to paint the first coat with a brush because the nearest hardware store was already closed for the evening. However, we received some rollers the next day, which had better coverage.
If you plan to paint your wood cabinets white, I recommend 2 coats of primer with a quality roller, followed by two coats of your white paint. The exception is if you use an adhesive / grip primer because it is thicker and in most cases only one coat is needed.

Side note: We later decided to remove the microwave, which helped us paint further down the side cabinets. It also made it easier to install our wooden backsplash, which we will share in a future post.
As soon as we got home from Eleni at the end of the week, we took all the tools out of the cupboard to prepare them for painting. You may have noticed that I highlighted everything. Honestly, I don’t know if it really helped, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.
