This post has been three years in the making….well maybe not, but I have hated the front door since we bought our house, and I have not wanted to get rid of it! We’ve been busy working on other areas of our house (like our bathroom, bedroom and bathroom, downstairs office/playroom) and it’s sitting on the back light. I never thought that I would pay so much attention to the door, but it was the first impression of our house and I knew that it would not take more than a few days to make a big change to the door of our house. I’m excited to partner with Home Depot, we go over every home project we’ve done so far, to make my life a reality!

The old red glass door, did nothing to make our 1970’s home look authentic. The porch on it looked unfinished and there was green and dirt from the end of the years. It was just a sad experience! No matter how much oil or flowers I put on it, nothing could hide it.
So, I created a great whiteboard and thought we’d spend a weekend or two transforming this space to give our front porch a boost without spending a ton of money!
So good! Breathtaking! We first invested in a vacuum cleaner at Home Depot and went to town sweeping the porch. Austin did it in two days. After a little delay due to rain I applied Behr DeckOver in ‘Pewter’ which is a very green.
At first we wanted to replace the door ourselves, but after a few problems we called in a local operator to help us as our opening was invisible (like everything else in this house)! I chose an old wooden door that was hung and ready to paint. I discussed painting the door and at first I wanted to do a dark gray with a blue/green tint, but after seeing how the floor went I realized that Behr’s Ultra Bright White was a good, fresh choice that would go with everyone. my seasonal jewelry.

We changed the light on this home decor light, it took 30 minutes why we didn’t do it sooner, I’ll never know… but black makes a difference and it makes such a difference. I love the gold interior too!
The Schlage door might be my favorite piece! It was worth every penny. I love how he finishes the door with modern techniques and keeps it from looking ‘farmhouse’.
I love the neutral and welcoming entryway we have now and can’t wait to decorate it for the upcoming holidays!
