Washer Dryer Hookup Home Depot – Christina and Robert Martinez of New Darlings renovated their laundry room with LG appliances. Using a master bedroom closet, Christina and Robert create an organized laundry oasis with help from The Home Depot.
It’s as if we started planning the renovation of the bedroom and wardrobe a long time ago. We started all the planning last March, and the whole renovation took about seven months. One of the biggest things we were excited about was the main construction of the closet, specifically putting laundry in the closet for easy access, quick folding, and space saving. We’re excited to partner with The Home Depot to share the process and location for today’s post.

When we moved in, the laundry was in its own room, away from the kitchen and dining room. It was small and got the job done, but the room’s discomfort quickly made it a dumping ground for everything we couldn’t. The old washers and dryers were stacked side by side so the top was always full of piles of clothes, I know, horrible.

When we decided to expand the dining room and tear down the wall that separates the dining room from the laundry room, we thought the master closet would be the best place for the new units. We’ve always been known to leave our clothes in the dryer, so we thought putting the washer and dryer in the closet would encourage us to fold and put away clothes faster, while of course expanding our dining space.
If you missed our wardrobe gallery from earlier this week, check it out here. The cabinetry is designed around the laundry room, so it’s only right that we highlight the stars of the post first: LG’s high-efficiency front-loading washing machine and electric tumble dryer. Both are large capacity units that were easy to stack using the LG stacking kit. We were able to schedule a mechanic with Home Depot so that everything can be installed on site when the units are delivered.
The washing machine has 12 wash cycles and you can preset your favorites so you can quickly and easily dispose of loads of laundry. One of the things people warned us about when they put the washer and dryer in our master closet was noise concerns, but we had no complaints. The washer and dryer were so quiet that several times I thought I had forgotten to press start. it’s good.
It was important to us to have space for complex units, but without compromising on storage space. It was no problem to have the laundry room on the starboard side, and all the laundry equipment was placed in baskets for easy access. We wanted to keep things simple and neat. Some of Rob’s sweaters and pants spill into the laundry room, right above the baskets, and his sneakers and boots are nearby. Color matching and organizing them by style helped keep everything in order.

There is just enough space left for an iron and ironing board to the left of the washer/dryer. I like that everything has its place and that there is minimal clutter. We added a few more baskets on top to store extra hangers, drying sheets, etc.
The older we get, the more excited we get about home gadgets. After deciding to combine the laundry room and closet, we knew we finally had to try one of the iRobot vacuums. We ordered a Roomba 960 with Wi-Fi and we can’t believe how handy this little gadget has become. It is small in size, so it fits perfectly in the docking station under one of the lower shelves, and with the help of the app we can control it directly from the phone. It was a game changer.
Here’s a close-up of the beautiful light fixture we decided to incorporate into the closet. We knew we wanted a chandelier and thought a vaulted ceiling would really brighten up the space, but I found many of the closet chandelier inspiration photos to be very ornate and traditional. It was so exciting when we found this from Mitzi on The Home Depot website. We were instantly sold on the globe style of lighting because it matches the other lights in our home and I thought the brass lace/floral details were so fun. It definitely adds some whimsy to the space and we love it!
So what do you think? Do any of you have laundry in your closet? Want to try it? Our contractor told us that many new builders are now designing their homes with laundry in the closet to save space. The comfort of everything cannot be measured!

Spring is officially here, which means it’s time for spring cleaning! What better room to start than the laundry room? It is literally the only place in the house devoted exclusively to cleaning. Here in this magical cleaning room, can you believe we have awesome machines that faithfully clean everything at the push of a button?! Oh yeah.
We are serial renters (military life!), so when The Home Depot asked me to remodel the laundry room, I knew it was the perfect place. My parents have wanted to update the laundry room for years, so we were thrilled to be able to work with them on the laundry room makeover. I flew from Texas to my parents house in Nashville to finish this laundry room renovation over spring break and we were done in less than a week! It was so much fun – Home Depot made the whole process so easy – your one stop shop for spring cleaning.

Let’s start with some good “before” photos so you can see where we started. Are you ready for this?
Does this space inspire you to clean? It sure doesn’t work for me – and I need all the motivation I can get when it comes to cleaning.
I don’t know why the master decided to put the exhaust of the dryer on the left and the plumbing on the right. I think it makes sense to go from left to right. Washing machine on the left, dryer on the right – am I right?! Maybe it was a design decision.
Another interesting design choice is that the water pipes and sockets are mounted on the wall: how poetic! I mean, look at them – they’re not even on the same level. (Am I the only one who gets annoyed by these things?)
Laundry Room Makeover
Since I was planning to add a countertop above the washer and dryer, we had a plumber and electrician move the plumbing and outlet so they wouldn’t mess up the counter wiring. Then we patched the plasterboard.
Okay, now that we’ve got the picky stuff out of the way, let’s get started on the laundry room makeover. You’ll see how a few small improvements like cabinets and countertops can make all the difference in the world.
These Dove Gray Hampton Bay Shaker Cabinets add lots of functionality and storage! We have ordered them and the good news is that they are in stock and will be shipped within 3 days! They came already assembled – all you had to do was hang them on the wall.
Hanging wall cabinets may seem intimidating, but it’s easier than you think! First, you need to remove the doors from the closet. Simply unscrew the hinges and door and set aside. Then use the stud finder to locate the studs in the wall. Cabinets should be attached to studs in the wall with 2 ½ inch wood screws.

To make the job a lot easier, use a ladder board — a 2×4 board that you temporarily place to act as a platform for the cabinets while you attach them to the wall. Determine how tall you want the cabinets to be, then screw the panel to the wall. Make sure this board is flat. Next, lift the cabinet frame to the wall, place it on top of the panel, and attach the cabinets to the studs in the wall. Replace doors and install cabinet pulls. After the cabinets are hung, remove the ladder board, caulk the holes in the wall, and repaint. Simple, right?
Now that we’ve hung the cabinets, it’s time to install the counter. THE
